Editor's Note: It's Time to Act
Practical things we can do in reaction to a Trump presidency.
It's a dark day for a lot of us, but I want this website to be a place where Seattle women/women-identifying can come for inspiration, information, and resources.
A few organizations to initially consider:
- Showing Up For Racial Justice - Sign up to volunteer or find upcoming events in the Seattle area
- Campaign Zero - Demand action from our representatives to end police violence; and sign up to get involved
- Volunteer to support support your Muslim family and friends with the Council on American-Islamic Relations
Join an organization that helps immigrants and new Americans
Our Events Calendar (link in upper left corner will be updated continuously with opportunities to organize, protest, volunteer, etc. If you have a cause that is in need especially, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can get the appropriate information and event listings up on the site.
I would also love to welcome a socio-political writer to contribute to Emerald to share their voice on how we can best educate, mobilize, and support the issues that are near and dear to our hearts and to our community's heart. Please email email@example.com if you are interested or know someone who might be.
Lastly, I just watched this video by Seattle-based writer and speaker Ijeoma Oluo and found it very inspiring. I encourage you to watch. Thank you.
